Hi, I'm Firmiana.
I'm passionate about crafting meaningful products and creating intuitive experiences. Currently, I design and develop interfaces for nonprofit clients at Hack4Impact, while pursuing dual degrees in Computer Science and Psychology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I'll be graduating May 2027.
As a Product Designer at Hack4Impact, I design human-centered, social good products for nonprofit clients, while working on cross-functional teams. My most recent work includes designing a mobile-first web app to help families build healthy habits for Brilliant Cities and an educational Air Quality Index comparison tool for OpenAQ.
When I'm not designing interfaces or in design critiques, I'm likely running around campus—taking portraits, leading outreach initiatives, photographing events, or getting involved with research.
And when I do have spare time, I enjoy traveling, trying new dishes, hiking, photographing food, swimming, and catching live music.
frameworks of reason
Empathy driven, data informed
Every project I work on begins with the users and stakeholders. Empathy is at the core of every decision, data informs the direction of the decision.
Relentlessly high standards, quick to adapt
Albeit a bit of a perfectionist, I pride myself in having an eye for detail. Cohesive designs built from decisions backed by weighing tradeoffs.
Strong ideals, loosely held
I bring clear ideas to the table and work best when I can engage in healthy debates about these judgements. Perspective taking isn't only for understanding users—it's also the key to collaboration.
